AKA's 'Mass Country' album is certified gold

South Africa, you did it! 'Mass Country' is officially gold.
A few weeks before his murder, AKA was hyping his fans up for his new album, 'Mass Country'. The album had been a long time coming and the 'Congratulations' hitmaker planned its roll-out down to every detail.
But the rapper, whose real name is Kiernan Forbes, would not be around when the offering dropped. AKA died on 10 February 2023, and 'Mass Country' was released on February 24.
His family went ahead with the release to honour his legacy.
"In the last two years, 'Mass Country', has become AKA's entire world. The Supa Mega constantly kept the album release momentum and anticipation high," the Forbes family said in a statement.
AKA's co-manager, Nivo Ndimande - who also served as a co-executive producer of the album, said he had mapped out the entire rollout and approved all elements.
"The team was extremely blessed to work so closely on this project with Kiernan. We spent a lot of time mapping out this rollout and creating all the content we have under his direction. Kiernan worked tremendously hard on this project. He put his heart and soul into it."

'Company' has spent three weeks at the top of the chart.
The 14-track album has a song AKA recorded with his girlfriend, Nadia Nakai. The track is called 'Dangerous' and also features Blxckie.

AKA and Nadia Nakai
Nadia joined AKA's mother Lynn Forbes in celebrating the album's success. "Mass Country Gold," the rapper wrote on Instagram.Lynn captioned a picture with the "thank you/praying" emoji.
DJ Zinhle - who is the mother of AKA's daughter, Kairo Forbes - reposted an image of the announcement on her Instagram Story.
Nadia recently shared how painful it has been dealing with AKA's death.
"This pain is just too much to bare, everyone says it’s something I will learn to live with. I just don’t believe it. Every day it just gets worse. I don’t know how to deal with this. Saying it hurts doesn’t explain the level of this pain," she wrote on Instagram.
Nadia added that the hole in her heart will never be filled.
"People go through heartache and are held together through their [grief] by their partner. How do I deal with the [grief] of losing my partner, the person that was supposed to support me is who I’ve lost. God, I miss you Kiernan."
