Girlfriend dumps man after he fails to propose

"She said she didn't want to waste more time."
The time between starting to date, getting engaged, and making things official differs from couple to couple. However, the big question is, 'Should there be a time limit?'.
A Reddit user was left embarrassed after being dumped by a long-term girlfriend because it took more than nine years for him to propose.
"Last week my gf and I got into a fight over something stupid and it escalated into an argument over what has been a sore spot for her, the fact that I haven't proposed," wrote the user.
He said the girlfriend said him not proposing made her feel insecure.
"She told me it made her feel unwanted," he wrote.

However, the man said he had been planning to marry her, but was waiting for the right time.
"I assured her that I DO want to marry her. She ended things with me today. She said she didn't want to waste more time."
The user said although he tried to assure the woman of his love for her, she was not interested in being in the relationship with him any longer.
"I told her we could go get married tomorrow if that's what she wants and that I still wanted to propose but wanted to wait for the right time. She said the right time was sometime between 4 and 6 years ago. And then she left."
As a result of her leaving, the man sought advice on how to get her back.
"What can I do? I do love her and I want to be with her. How can I show her how much she means to me?," he wrote.
Although some people advised that he goes ahead and proposes her, some said he must just let her go and be with someone who won't take long to realise her worth.
