Nelson Mandela, one of the greatest men that ever lived, was born on 18 July 1918. The Nobel Peace Prize recipient changed the lives of many people around the world. As a result, his birthday is celebrated by doing kind deeds for others in honour of his legacy.
This Mandela Day, if you aren't sure how to celebrate, we have a few last-minute ideas:
Support ECR's Mandela Day celebration

Choose to forgive
Mandela once said: “Resentment is like drinking poison and then hoping it will kill your enemies.”
One way to honour the late struggle icon is to let go of past hurt and forgive those who have wronged you.
Forgiving someone doesn't mean you have to pick the relationship back up. It just means letting go of feelings associated with the pain caused by that person. Consider speaking to a counsellor to help you through the process.

Sponsor someone's educational needs
This quote by Mandela, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world", is one of the most popular. Education opens doors of opportunities.
Sponsor someone's education through helping pay for their fees, buying stationery for them, uniform or anything that will go a long way in making their learning easier. Remember, small acts of kindness can make the biggest difference in someone's life.
Care for the homeless
Homeless people are often overlooked. This Mandela Day is the perfect opportunity to bless a homeless person with food, clothes or even a blanket for the cold winter nights.
Support a local charity
Charities depend on donations. Find a local charity that you can support. Many charities will have a list of items that they require, such as non-perishable food items, clothes or money.
Donate things you don't use
You might find items in your house that you hardly use but someone else might value. This Mandela Day, you can donate those items to those in need.
