How Annie Lennox has been fighting for gender equality
Annie Lennox was born on Christmas day in 1954 in Aberdeen, Scotland. We celebrate her birthday by playing her music and looking at the work she has been doing to make this world a better place.
Annie Lennox is not only loved for her music. She has done a great job of making the world a better place for the marginalized in society.
Annie is a proud HIV/AIDS activist who works tirelessly to end the abuse of women and girls.
She has been using her power and influence to be a voice for gender equality.
Speaking about her passion for activism, Annie once said: " People without a voice, those are the people I wanted to represent and a lot of those people are women."
She said victims of abuse don't usually speak out. "I wanted to be an advocate. I wanted to speak out."

She says she has witnessed the pain and brutality women face all over the world and the loss of life and as an advocate, the pain never goes away.
" I carry that pain with me."
In 2021, she launched The Circle, a global NGO. She also launched #CirclesOfChange, to raise funds to fight against injustice and inequality.
On 25 December, the star will be turning 68 years old.
East Coast Gold will be playing some of her biggest hits to celebrate the success she has achieved in the music industry.
These include being rated No. 22 on VH1's 100 Greatest Women in Music in 2012. In 2013 she was also called the Official Charts Company called her & the most successful female British artist in UK music history".
