As Barbra Streisand turns 81, we celebrate her birthday by looking at the incredible humanitarian work she has done.
Barbra Streisand is a voice for the voiceless.
The superstar was born on 24 April 1942 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, USA.
The 81-year-old is one of most successful personalities in show business, having received some of the following accolades; Oscar, Tony, Emmy, Grammy, Golden Globe, Cable Ace, National Endowment for the Arts, and Peabody awards.
Over the years she has been using her fame and influence to change the lives of many for the better.
As a result of her humanitarian work, she has been honoured with; the Humanitarian Award from the Human Rights Campaign, an Honorary Doctorate in Arts and Humanities from Brandeis University in 1995, an Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 2013, and the bestowing by the government of France the title of Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters.
Recently she has been advocating for women to have the freedom to choose whether to keep or abort their pregnancy.
"The Court uses religious dogma to overturn the constitutional right to abortion. This Court is the American Taliban," she tweeted in June 2022.
Earlier this year in March, she took to Instagram to say that the right for women to have an abortion should not be taken away from them.

In 2017, she embarked on a new mission of bringing gender equity to women in the healthcare sector.
She founded the Barbra Streisand Women's Heart Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
The center has been described as 'playing a leading role in identifying female-pattern heart disease, developing new diagnostic tools and advancing specialised care for women'.
She has also reportedly donated nearly $16-million from her 2007 concert tour to education, the environment, women’s health, and other civic concerns.
Here is a list of charities she supports.
Over the years, Barbra has released countless hits.
