Would you give up your car for cycling?
Updated | By Zaba
The increasing availability of cycle lanes means that bicycles are becoming a viable transport option.
The big news around the country is the EcoMobility World Festival, taking place in the ever so busy Sandton.
Because of this, the roads have been shut down around Sandton, and people have been encouraged to use other forms of transport to get around such as the Gautrain, cycling or walking.
There are also plans by eThekwini Municipality to have bike lanes all around the city for people to cycle to and from destination as early as 2016.
Recently, I chatted to a friend of mine who works in Sandton about carpooling and using public transport or other methods such as cycling and his response was, “ I worked to damned hard to buy myself such an awesome car, to go back to taking taxis and buses”
What is your preferred mode of travel? Given the opportunity, would you find an alternative to driving to and from destination and what would your preferred mode of ecomobility be?
