A water scheme project in Estcourt that aims to bring water to individual households has been given the go-ahead.
The uThukela District Municipality greenlighted the R48 million Vimbukhalo project on Thursday.
Mayor Ntandoyenkosi Shabalala says the project will bring some relief to residents who have been grappling to get the resource in Ward 2.

"We used to have these projects where the community will walk approximately 200 metres to standpipe where they will get water, but this time around each household will have its own standpipe.
"There will be no need for them to travel or walk long distances to get water."
The project is set to be completed in a year's time.
