"Don’t give up on yourself," Unathi tells matrics who are disappointed with their results.
Unathi has shared some words of advice for matrics who are receiving their National Senior Certificate results this week.
The 'Idols SA' judge took to Instagram to reveal that she failed twice in her life. She failed grade 8 and also had to repeat her first year of university.
“It was devastating, so I know how you feel and I know how heartbroken you must be. I also understand the possible things that you are thinking of and possibly thinking of doing to yourself and I want to ask you, as your big sis, don’t give up on yourself. It’s okay, it really is. I had to learn that I’m just slower when it comes to academics and I needed more time,” she said.
Unathi added that she was disappointed when her father decided to send her back to the same high school after she failed grade 8.
"My father said to me: 'my child, if you start running now you will never stop running'. He had to teach me to never run away from my failures, or my challenges, or my fears. Instead, I need to run to my dreams and to the things I want to achieve."
