Public order police were deployed to the scene to monitor the crowds. Dr Pixley Ka Seme Street ( the former West Street) near the Durban City Hall was closed to traffic late yesterday.

About 50 demonstrators marched to the hall in the afternoon, demanding Mayor Zandile Gumede address them.

They say the municipality promised last year that there'll be more jobs, business opportunities and homes for veterans.  The association's Langa Dube says nothing's happened yet.

Dube says eThekwini's promised to respond to MK Vets this afternoon.
