Elderly woman critically injured in Pinetown home attack
A 72-year-old woman's fighting for her life in hospital after she was shot during a violent home invasion in Pinetown.
Two intruders broke into her property in Padfield Park last night.
While the circumstances surrounding the shooting are still being investigated, medics say one of the suspects was killed and another was wounded in an exchange of gunfire.
"On arrival, paramedics found that a lady was stabilised on scene by advance life support paramedics before she was transported to a nearby hospital. One of the alleged suspects had been killed in the gunfight. One had sustained moderate injuries and was also stabilised on scene before being transported under police guard to a nearby hospital," Rescue Care's Garrith Jamieson said.

SAPS spokesperson, Thembeka Mbhele says two unlicensed firearms were recovered from the scene.
