Phumlani Mbatha suffered critical injuries to his skull, arms and legs.

The Durban Regional Court heard that after the 2013 collision - Nolwazi Nzimande drove for more than a kilometre with the constable pinned to the roof of her car.

He was found lying on the road and died a few hours later.

Nzimande meanwhile went to a friend's house, where she stayed that night and only reported the incident to police the next day.

The officer's brother, Sthembiso Phewa, says he feels underwhelmed with the judgement so far.

Judgment will continue today. Nzimande will know whether she's also been convicted of a raft of other charges she faces in connection with the hit-and-run.
